Why you should make homemade face masks
First, let’s talk about homemade face masks. Why should you add homemade face masks to your skincare routine? Here are a few of our favorite reasons.
Homemade face masks:
Affordable – making your face mask is very cost-effective! If you apply a mask once a week and alternate between DIY and shop-bought masks, your shop-bought masks will last you twice as long, saving you a lot of money!
The process of making it is Super Easy! While it may seem complicated, making your face mask is simply mixing all the ingredients.
Made with affordable ingredients – Another factor that makes creating your masks so easy is that the active ingredients are highly affordable – no need to search the internet for unknown, mystical, or never heard of elements. We will use exceptionally beneficial active ingredients you will most likely find in your kitchen right now!
A great way to change the environment – changing things can do wonders for your skin! While most of us have an essential collection of the best skin care products (that we probably use every day), incorporating a few beneficial new active ingredients into a DIY face mask is a great idea.
Benefits of an avocado face mask
Avocados are understood (and loved) for their healthy fats, and those healthy and balanced fats and oils make them a fantastic addition to your skincare routine. The healthy fats in avocados pass through the skin to soothe, hydrate, and nourish the face while reducing fine lines and wrinkles. The antioxidants in avocados help remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and purify the skin.
Why oatmeal? It’s good that you asked! Oatmeal absorbs the excess oil on your skin, helps treat acne, and its potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties help fight dry skin (and help with the itching it often gets) and remove dead skin cells. Oats also contain natural cleansing agents (called saponins) that are highly effective in removing dust and oil from the skin. Oatmeal is also quite gentle (yet reliable) and suitable for all types of skin.
Isn’t it incredible what real food can do for our skin?! We often forget how effective all-natural remedies are for treating common skin problems!
Homemade Oatmeal Avocado Face Mask Recipe
This simple mask is easy to make! From ordering simple ingredients to making a face mask, applying it, and seeing results, the process couldn’t be more straightforward!
Below is what you need:
Ripe Avocado – Admit you recognize the benefits of avocados (hello, essential fats!). You can see why we used mashed avocados in this soothing mask! You will need 1/2 of an avocado. Use a soft, ripe avocado to make the puree easy!
Oats – oats are not just for a healthy diet! For this mask, you will need two tablespoons of oatmeal. You can grind the oats before mixing them with the avocado for a smoother application.
Olive Oil – one tablespoon of olive oil adds another serving of healthy, soothing fats.
CBD Oil – While optional, a teaspoon of CBD oil (this set is our favorite) has relaxing, anti-inflammatory properties and works wonders for burnt, tender skin.
To make this soothing mask, you first need to mash an avocado. As soon as it ultimately turns into a puree, add the rest of the ingredients and also mix! Easily?!
How to apply an avocado face mask
Cleanse and dry your face – before using any face mask. You need to wash and dry your face as usual.
Use a face mask – after cleaning and drying your face, use a flat brush or your fingers to apply a layer of the avocado and oatmeal mask onto your face.
Wait – set a timer for ten-twenty minutes.
Rinse your face – when the timer goes off, rinse the mask with warm-like water and use a soft towel (these soft muslin wipes are our favorite) until it is thoroughly washed off, then pat your face dry.
Apply the rest of your skincare products – once you get rid of the mask, and your face is completely dry, apply the rest of your usual skincare!
How long can homemade face masks be used?
Given that this soothing oatmeal and avocado mask is homemade, it will only last for a short time as a store-bought mask. We recommend storing it in an airtight container or container (best!) in the refrigerator for 5-7 days.
